JOB TITLE            : Corporate Finance Team Lead

REPORTS TO       : Compliance Manager (G35)

FUNCTION            : FINANCE

SUB-FUNCTION   : Corporate Finance (CFOM)

LOCATION            : Selangor, Malaysia

PURPOSE STATEMENT:

The role is responsible for the management of risks, controls, and compliance for South Pacific Markets. This is achieved by ensuring all BAU (eg, Business Risk Register, Control Navigator, Local Risk & Governance Committee Submission, SOX compliance, Audit, Policies Management) to ensure a sound control environment to address business risks and model the competitive impact on BAT’s business.

It also contributes to risk management by coordinating, validating the proposed measures to mitigate risks identified, and following up on the implementation of identified mitigating actions. A key element of the role is stakeholder management with control owners in the end markets, as well as presenting to Compliance & Control Manager on a monthly basis and Leadership Team occasionally.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Operational:

  • To assist the provision of assurance to management on different process & systems and activities adherence to company’s policies, procedures & relevant laws, and regulations.

  • To support and monitor End Markets SOX compliance.

  • Support risk & control management activities such as monthly governance meeting.

  • To assist the Control Navigator assessments, follow up and ensure the actions of remediation plans are completed as per the approved due date.

  • Control Excellence Dashboard: follow up with stakeholders to ensure accurate actions are taken to deliver Local Policy Review, Immediate Reportable Issues (IRI), and Segregation of Duties (SoD) review.

  • Preparation and delivery On-Time In-Full (OTIF) of the risk register exercise to avoid any business disruption because of a control breakdown as well as any monetary losses.

  • To support audit (internal & external) ensuring audit timelines are met.

  • Ensure business needs and relationships are fulfilled and enhanced through proactive involvement and interaction.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • A minimum 4 years of experience in a global FMCG or similar dynamic operating environment;
  • Experience in audit would be an added advantage;
  • Understand the impact of the accounting processes and practices and any changes in accounting standards;
  • A detailed understanding and knowledge of relevant finance tools and systems, specifically BI/BPC or SAP equivalent;
  • Strong communication and inter-personal skills to collaborate and coordinate effectively within the DRBU, with stakeholders at varying levels in the organisational hierarchy;
  • Able to identify process and reporting improvements and proactively implement solutions;
  • Responsible, meticulous, proactive, and can work under pressure with minimum supervision to contribute to change in a dynamic environment;
  • Knowledgeable in identifying risks and in implementing controls;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to interpret financial data;
  • Degree educated with professional accountancy qualification (CA/ACCA/CIMA/CPA) preferred;
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken; Local language will be a plus;
  • Able to cater to South Pacific market work hours
